Question

A 1875 kg car moves with a velocity of 5 m/s. What is its kinetic energy?

2 Answer

  • Kinetic energy = 1/2 mv^2 = 1/2 x 1875 x (5)^2 = 23437.5 J

  •      Kinetic energy  =  (1/2) x (mass) x (speed)²

                                   = (1/2) x (1875 kg) x (5 m/s)²

                                   = (1/2) x (1875 kg) x (25 m²/s²)

                                   =      (937.5 kg)  x  (25 m²/s²

                                   =            23,437.5 joules
