since we know the slope intercept form is y=mx+b and that parallel lines have the same slope we know that the slope in our equation is going to be 4
we can plug in the point (8,5) into y= 4x+b
in doing that we get 5= 4(8)+b.
5=4(8)+b
5=32+b
subtract 32 from both sides to find b the (yintercept)
532=27
b=27
bc the slope is 4 and the yintercept is 27 the equation of the line that's parallel to y=4x+5 and passes through the given point (8,5) is y=4x27
